Christine Bailey

Christine “Cricket” was born in Archer, Fl on October 25,1941 to parents Doc Elijah Bailey and Eliza Walls who preceded her in death. She was the third of four children. Cricket was a lifelong resident of Gainesville, Fl. She departed this earthly realm on April 15, 2024, after a long battle with an illness. She attended Lincoln High School in Gainesville, Florida. She worked many years as a nursing assistant. Cricket retired from Tacachale Center where she worked for 27years and developed some lifelong friendships. She loved reading James Patterson and Sue Grafton books, cooking, and watching her favorite programs on television, especially Judge Judy.  

Christine “Cricket” raised two children, Jay Boyd (1968-1993) and Raquel Bailey (1973). She leaves behind to mourn her passing sister Celestine Cohen (Uniondale, NY), daughter Raquel Bailey (Gainesville, Fl), grandson Jarvis Bailey (Gainesville, Fl), granddaughter Margaret Steele (Gainesville, Fl), and memorable longtime friends Carolyn Lightner. Linda Warren, and Johnny Mae. Cricket is proceeded in death by two siblings, Beatrice Murray and Julius Bailey, who are waiting for her at the Door to Heaven. 

Also, a host of others that may not be mentioned but are in our hearts forever. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.   Christine “Cricket” was always there when needed and she was well loved by many.  She was an honest and caring person and always willing to help others. Cricket was the heart of our home and family.  She will be truly missed!
